It's a fashionable desert hat that works just as well downtown. Stand out without being showy.

Each one is worked by hand to transform it from a simple rounded dome into something truly unique and aesthetically satisfying- no two will be identical.

Recapitate hats are handcrafted in the Mojave Desert one hat at a time. Each carefully built for you by musician/hatter Todd Fink (The Faint).

COLOR: Black

BRIM: 3 5/8" sturdy, flat

CROWN: 5 1/8" at the highest point (dimensions will vary in proportion to hat size).

FELT: 100% pure fur felt in a sturdy, dense "western weight" (like a cowboy hat).

HATBAND: Nothing but matching black stitching. Message us for hatband choices: leather, hemp, rope, grosgrain ribbon, bandana etc.

SWEATBAND: Premium black sheep/goat leather

To measure your head: Use a flexible tape measure (not stretchy!) to measure around your head. A sewing tape measure works perfectly. They can be found at the pharmacy in those little travel sewing kits (let us know if you have trouble finding one). You are looking to measure the biggest part of your head. Usually this is an inch or so above your eyebrows and 1/8" above your ears. There is no need to pull it tight but you don’t want the tape to droop or twist either.

Make the measurement in centimeters including a decimal point to account for the millimeters (example - 57.7cm). Results will vary so measure several times. This is most accurately done by someone other than yourself but if you've got a mirror, that will work. When in doubt it may be wise to choose the larger size. If it's a little big, some folded newspaper can be fitted between the sweatband and the hat.
